ENC 1101/1102 Style Manual*

MLA is the style used by the majority of instructors at PSC for submission of written work.  With the publication of the 7th edition of MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, the format for citations has been substantially modified from previous editions.  The new format changes include use of Italics for titles instead of underlining,  no more urls, and the addition of the medium used -- web, paper, etc.

Two of the primary resources that document these changes are available at the PSC Library.

MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers.  New York: Modern Language Association of America, 2009. Print.

*Troyka, Lynn Q, and Douglas Hesse. Simon and Schuster Handbook for Writers: Annotated Instructor's Edition. 9th ed. Upper   Saddle River, N.J.: Pearson, 2009. Print.

What about the Web?

Despite the hype, information on the Internet can often be inaccurate, out of date, misleading, or just plain wrong.  Always think critically when using the open WWW for scholarly research or use sites referenced or recommended by acknowledged experts in the fields being researched.
