Embedding Videos Into Your Course: Home

Embedding Videos in Canvas

Greetings,

Would you like to add library content (i.e. videos from library databases like Films on Demand) to your canvas course shell? The guide will show you how to do it!

How to Embed Videos in Canvas

In Films on Demand, look for the Embed/Link option while viewing a video title to find direct links and embed codes.

Adding Films on Demand videos as an external tool to a Module in Canvas

  1. In Course Navigation, click the Modules link.

  2. Click the Add Item button.

  3. In the Add [Item Type] To: drop-down menu, select the External Tool option.

  4. Search for Films on Demand and click the Search icon. An external window will appear in your browser; follow the instructions to add the tool.

  5. When the tool loads, you can search for the video and embed it.

In Kanopy, look for the "Share" button to find direct links and embed codes.

Once you find the link or embed code, it might be helpful to put an 's' after the 'http' in order for the video to play more easily in Canvas.  Example: https://polk.kanopystreaming.com/video/thin-ice-0  as opposed to http://polk.kanopystreaming.com/video/thin-ice-0
