Summarizing, Paraphrasing, and Quoting

What is Quoting?

Quoting is restating part of a source, word for word, and putting quotation marks around that phrase so the reader knows it is the source's words and not your own. Generally speaking, quotes should be used infrequently or not at all in academic writing. Consult your assignment guidelines for more details on whether or not quotes may be used.
