Searching the library catalog for children's books can be tricky.
Examples: To help you find picture books - add "picture" after CH.LIT in the main search box; for Newbery winners - type "newbery"
Tip: Additional search terms for fining award winning titles include: "award" "medal" "honor"
Note: The library will transfer books between locations for you and you may return Polk State library books to any of our locations. Items requested from a different location will usually be available within two business days.

If you are having difficulty locating the books you need - please don't hesitate to ask a librarian for help!
In a library, each item has a unique call number to help you locate where the item lives on the shelves. Most University and College libraries (including the Polk State College libraries) use Library of Congress call numbers and most public libraries and schools use Dewey Decimal call numbers.
Call numbers are found near the bottom on the spine of our books as well as in the library's catalog. They are written top-bottom / left-right (like reading a book).
When reading a Library of Congress call number follow the letters, then the numbers and repeat as needed.
In addition to the children's titles, you may also want to explore the "L" call numbers:
Tip: Library of Congress call numbers can be rather long, especially for children's titles! You may wish to take a quick photo of the call number before heading to our shelves.
