Arts and Humanities Databases: An Overview

This guide provides a general overview of the Arts and Humanities databases offered by Polk State College Libraries.

Searching in Artstor

The advanced search in Artstor provides a quick way to add limits so that images can be browsed.

Start by clicking on the following:

1. Images

2. Advanced Search

Now in the Advanced Search, it is possible to add limits. Let's say we are looking for photographs on dogs taken in the United States. We would put in the following limits:

Terms: Dogs

Classification: Photographs

Country: United States

Then we would click Submit

You may need to scroll down to get to the rest of the limit options

Choose the "sort by" option that fits what you need. Now you can browse the pictures of dogs and choose one.

After you click on an image, note the option to Cite and Download in the upper right corner. To the left under Item details is metadata about the photograph. There is also a stable URL in the upper left.
