  • to allow you to demonstrate that you have thoroughly researched your subject
  • to give credit to the authors whose words and ideas you used

How to Format an APA Works Cited List

Label the page References centered at the top. All reference list entries are double-spaced and are formatted with a hanging indent. Alphabetize (according to the first word) the entire reference list.


Online newspaper article format:

Online journal article format:
