Higher Education Exams

The PERT test assesses how much you already know about reading, writing, and math, and is intended to help place you in the proper leveled course.

In order to take the PERT, students must first contact advising to see whether they are exempt from the exam.

Currently, all PERT testing takes place on-campus at one of our testing centers. The PERT can be taken at the Winter Haven, Lakeland, and JD Alexander Center TLCCs.

Once you have your assessment completed, it will help you decide what English and mathematics courses will be best for you to take. For more information about taking the PERT look to the following college website page:

PERT Q & A

CLEP (College-Level Examination Program) testing is available at the Winter Haven testing center. Tests are by appointment only.

To take the CLEP, students must purchase the exam through the College Board website. There is also a $35 testing center fee paid to the college.

The TEAS exam is offered on the Winter Haven campus as well as remotely. An on-campus TEAS test costs $90, while a remotely proctored TEAS costs $95.

In conjunction with the Office of Disability Services, Polk State College offers class testing for students with accommodations. Testing with accommodations can be done on both the Winter Haven and Lakeland campuses, though services vary.

To test with accommodations, speak with the Office of Disability Services as well as your professor. Once the accommodations have been approved, tests can be scheduled through RegisterBlast.

Testing by Faculty Referral and Appointment

On-campus testing services are available by appointment with a faculty referral for accommodations, classroom make-ups, and other special situations and issues. We do not do full class testing.
