Submitting an Exam

Submissions should be used for the following:

  • Make-up exams
  • Accommodations which cannot be met via class and/or Remote Proctoring Services
  • Students lacking the necessary technology to test remotely

Test submissions should be submitted at least 24 hours prior to the test opening to ensure students can make an appointment 12 hours in advance of their test date. Alternative test format, scribe, or reader accommodations should be submitted at least one week in advance. The student will be responsible for scheduling the scribe or reader through the Office of Disability Services.

To submit an exam, follow these steps:

  1. Sign into your Canvas account as Faculty.
  2. Select the appropriate course.
  3. Click the "Schedule Testing Appointment" link from the left menu.
  4. Select the "+" button, located beside "Submissions."
  5. Fill out the submission with your test name in section 1. This is the name your students will see when making an appointment.
  6. Select the exam group with the appropriate Course Section. There are options for computer based and/or paper testing.
  7. Select the Start Date and End Date for the exam.
  8. Enter the allotted time (in minutes) for the exam in the following textbox. Enter the standard time for the exam. For students with extended time accommodations, RegisterBlast will calculate their accommodated time limit automatically. If your exam is delivered within Canvas, be sure to set the correct time within the test itself.
  9. Upload any necessary test materials (exam files, reference pages, etc.).
  10. Indicate the delivery mode for your class, the nature of the testing referral, and whether your test is paper or online/electronic. If you select online, another text box will appear, where you will input the password for the exam. If the exam is online, you will also indicate whether the exam will utilize a proctoring service. Complete the section on allowed materials. If no materials are allowed, then "no materials allowed" must be selected.
  11. Indicate whether a Scantron is required and if bathroom breaks are allowed. Choose how you would like your exam materials returned to you. Read the Testing Center Guidelines, and then indicate your agreement by clicking "I have read and agree to the Testing Center Guidelines."
  12. Under Eligibility and Restrictions, indicate which students are intended to complete the exam. To select particular students, enter their Polk State student email address.
  13. Include any additional information you would like shared with the testing center in the "Additional Instructions" box. Upon completion, you may choose "Submit" or "Submit and Print." The testing center will activate the exam within 24 hours to make it available for students to register and schedule an appointment online. If we have any questions about the submission, we will contact you before approving it.

If any changes must be made to your submission, we recommend contacting the testing center to ensure they are aware of the change. Additionally, the "History" tab allows you to see if your student has scheduled their exam and the status of their testing session.
